FAQs-Our Community Work
When were we established?
Our journey began in 2008 as a private foundation, but our commitment to strengthening organizations and communities started long before then. Over the years, we have had the privilege of helping organizations across the United States navigate challenges, build capacity, and expand their impact. It has been rewarding to witness the lasting results of this work and the generational legacy it continues to create. We have seen visionary projects take root, grow, and thrive as leadership is passed to the next generation, ensuring that the good work continues for years to come.
What projects do we support?
We support projects that align with our mission to build the capacity of organizations to support stable and healthy communities. Our focus is capacity building which means that when you build your resources and skills and hit a capacity constraint or capacity limit we help to bridge the gap between what you can do and what still needs to be done
If my organization is chosen what paperwork do I have to fill out?
Following our initial review, we may request additional information to assist in the evaluation process. Applicants will receive written notification regarding the status of their request, which may include approval, denial, or a request for further documentation.
As part of the review process, organizations must provide a copy of their IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter and a completed W-9 form. We will also verify that the organization is in good standing with applicable regulatory agencies, which may include the Secretary of State, Attorney General, State Controller, Franchise Tax Board, and the Internal Revenue Service.
Any outstanding compliance, reporting, or regulatory issues must be resolved before financial support, services, or assistance can be provided.
Are there reporting requirements?
Yes. A report is due within six months or less of the support given to an organization. It all amounts to proof of doing what you said you were going to do. Reports can be in the form of proof of expenditures related to your approved project, proof of execution of a project.
How long does it take to get support?
It all depends on what type of support you need and the amount of projects that we are currently working on. Typically we try to stay within a quarterly cycle.
Do we accept contributions?
No.
