What To File

File the 990N if your organization makes $50,000 or less.

File the 990EZ if your organization makes $200,000 or less and have $500,000 or less in assets.

File the 990 if your organization makes more than $200,000 and has $500,000 or more in assets.

File a 990PF if you are a private foundation.

When To File

All 990 filings are due 5 months and 15 days after the close of the organization’s taxable year.

For example: If your taxable year ends December 31, then your report is due by May 15, of the following year.

Please remember, there are general exceptions to filings, including religious organizations.

“Organizations that do not file for three consecutive years automatically lose their tax-exempt status.”
