How I Got Started In The Nonprofit Industry

Part of my job is to answer questions that people ask me. I believe my answers will help you to know that you are on the right track and give you encouragement to move forward when things look a little bleak.

This week I will be answering the question of how I got into the nonprofit industry. I wish I could make this a long, drawn-out testimonial with background music but here’s the simple truth:

Someone made me mad and I challenged myself to do better.

We all get angry or frustrated but it’s what we do with the energy that is most important. I could end here but I will go a little deeper. By the time the dust settled from my traumatic entry into the nonprofit world, I looked around and challenged myself to stop concentrating on my issues and help people navigate through the challenges of the nonprofit industry.  It was important to me to take people from idea to action by giving sound advice based on experience and business principles.

On the road to understanding this new world (fast forward), there was a failed fundraising campaign, volunteer problems, a broken heart (not mine), a glorious wedding (my friend’s) a great nonprofit comeback and enough resources to give our organization a really, really good start.

So you see, the nonprofit world is pretty exciting and comes with some drama too 🙂

I love to help people take action with their community ideas and grant writing, (without the drama)  to do this I’ve created a series of webinars and courses to help you. I know you don’t have a lot of time so I have made this training short, plain and simple and loaded with examples you can put to use today.

No matter how you got into the nonprofit industry I know you are serious and passionate about what you are doing. By sharing my “WHY” I hope I can challenge you to elevate your thinking and do better for yourself every day. By doing this you will place yourself in the position of being able to help others.
